Hockey (Mens)
Men's Hockey welcomes all and every player regardless of ability! We have five teams competing in the local and BUCS leagues we can definitely find a place to accommodate you! We currently have training sessions on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays depending on your team. Interested? Welcome to the site of Southampton University Men's Hockey Club, (SUMHC) the mighty 'Wessex Rangers'. We have 4 teams playing in BUCS university leagues on Wednesdays and 5 teams playing in England Hockey leagues on Saturdays. All abilities are welcome!

Membership Information
These are the current membership fees offered by Hockey (Mens), although many clubs and societies offer a free period for new members to try out their activities.
Please note that some memberships of this group may also require you to purchase Sport & Wellbeing membership from the University of Southampton in order to use the relevant sport facilities

| Year Membership for 1/2/3/4XI for 2025/26 | £100.00 | 02/09/2025 - 31/07/2026 | This membership is for players in the 1XI, 2XI, 3XI and 4XI, to help cover the costs associated with playing hockey in the England Hockey South Central, BUCS Premier South and BUCS Western leagues. The largest expenditures of SUMHC are fuel for personal cars to travel to and from oppositions' pitches, the hourly rate of our head coach Tim and then any assistant coaches we have, and finally for internal members to umpire home games for the 3XI, 4XI and 5XI. In addition, membership through the SUSU website allows you to fall under SUSU's insurance policy, so if you get hit by a ball or stick and need immediate medical treatment at a cost, you will be insured for that expense. | |

The largest expenditures of SUMHC for the 5XI players are fuel for personal cars to travel to and from oppositions' pitches, the hourly rate of our assistant coach who runs the Thursday training sessions, and then for our internal members to umpire home games for the 5XI every other Saturday. In addition, membership through the SUSU website allows you to fall under SUSU's insurance policy, so if you get hit by a ball or stick and need immediate medical treatment at a cost, you will be insured for that expense. | |
