Lacrosse (Mixed)

One of the best things you can do when you come to uni is to take up a sport, it's a great way to make friends and gain the fantastic experience of being part of a team, so why not try something new and make that sport Mixed Lacrosse! You don't need any experience to join, in fact most people have never played before coming to Southampton so you'll be in the same boat as everyone else when you join up (of course experienced players are more than welcome). No need to bring anything either, we've got all the kit you'll need to get started! We are a fun, sociable and relaxed club, if you can't commit much time but still want to come along every so often that's fine. Mixed Lacrosse is a fast paced team sport played with both men and women on the pitch. You use a stick to to throw a hard rubber ball, about the size of a tennis ball, between players to attempt to get the ball down the length of the pitch and into the opponent's goal. We train Tuesday's 4:00-6:00pm and Thursday 6:00-8:00pm on the rubber crumb pitches at Wide Lane, and play matches at the weekends. We have two teams, one for experienced players that compete in England Lacrosse's Sunday league, and one for beginners that play friendly matches against other teams. We also get involved in tournaments and big events like Varsity throughout the year, so there's plenty of gametime for all abilities! Wednesday night, like for most AU clubs, is socials night! Our socials provide a regular mix of fantastic events from themed activities and beer pong tournaments, to our fancy dinners and balls throughout the year. That's not to forget the huge bar crawls with our good friends from Men's and Ladies Lacrosse! There's something for everyone at Mixed Lacrosse, whether you're the ultra competitive sporty type, far more socially minded, just fancy a bit of exercise, or anything in-between.
