Lawyers Without Borders
Welcome to our SuSu page! We are Lawyers Without Borders Southampton Student Division. Whether you are a law student with your heart set on human rights, a law student hoping to gain experience within a law society, or a non-law student, there is a place for you. Lawyers Without Borders Southampton Student Division is a student-run group in affiliation with the non-profit organisation Lawyers Without Borders, formed to promote and further their work. Lawyers Without Borders is a charity that seeks to integrate skilled pro bono lawyers into rule of law programming which is designed to improve the integrity of legal processes around the world.
We work with LWOB on research projects, fundraise for them, and promote opportunities such as volunteering and internships in the human rights and legal field. We aim to raise awareness about the importance of helping countries going through or recovering from conflict to develop a sound judicial process and improve the link between the organisation's objectives and students who can continue to further their work.
We look out for and help develop the passion and career paths of students who have a keen interest in international human rights, civil liberties, and pro bono work. Every year, we participate in the Rule of Law Innovation Challenge, so stay tuned for updates on this!
We also run a blog titled The Heart of Human Rights LWOB x SOTON. This blog aims to provide insights into human rights issues around the world.

While there are ticketed events that are open to non-members, you can attend for a reduced price! In this society, you will have the opportunity to make friends with other law students, build your network, and explore your interests. We understand that applications for work experience and graduate roles can be challenging, so we also want to give you the chance to develop new skills that you enjoy learning, and which help you stand out from the crowd during these applications. You don't have to be a law student to join LWOB - we are open to everyone who wants to make a difference and is passionate about human rights and the importance of rule of law.
