EkkoRacing

We are making our flagship Solar Challenger for the Bridgestone World Solar Challenge! Join our Electrical, Mechanical and Aerodynamics teams in Designing, Testing and Manufacturing our race vehicle. Be it testing designs in the RJ Mitchell wind tunnel, liaising with the Solar Division, fabricating an electrical powertrain or one of our many other projects, there are plenty of opportunities to get stuck in. Whether you're here to learn or to lead, we accept all levels of experience!

Solar Division

Currently building the Mini Array, a proof of concept build to solder and encapsulate solar cells in-house. We aim to innovate within these to achieve cost reduction. We also assist other teams in our society with their solar panel designs. We aim to build products that can be integrated into the university landscape and more.

Turbine Division

Mini Turbine Alpha is the first wind turbine that will be in our journey to build a full-scale wind turbine. We are building all of our components, even the generator, from the ground up. Currently, MTA is in its manufacturing phase while its generator is being revamped. Eventually, we want to collaborate with Strathclyde Turbine Team to donate our builds to international communities that are not receiving constant power.

Solar Flight Division

Our devision is currently developing a solar powered unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) designed for continuous, long duration flight. The UAV aims to fly perpetually by harvesting and storing solar energy. This requires a lightweight, aerodynamic design and a complex electrical system. 

Equipt with a camera payload, the platform captures real-time images. Which are processed using AI-driven object detection and image analysis.

Community

Fairness and communication are important themes in our community. We always want to attribute everyone's contribution and work as transparently and clearly as possible. Whether you are casually interested in green technology or a renewables expert, there is a lot of fulfilling work to do and have fun together! We also run regular socials :)
