Street Dance Society
The Street Dance Society at the University of Southampton runs weekly classes across varying levels and styles. From beginners to advanced, we have something for everyone. So if you are an experienced dancer or a complete beginner we have something for everyone. We bring together people who love dancing and create a friendly environment for everyone to enjoy themselves and improve their street dance skills. We offer a range of different styles of Street Dance for you to try, from locking to house, waacking to hip hop, or if you just want to groove on your favourite track, join us in the Multi Purpose Studio (MPS). We also offer Afro Classes on a weekly basis so you can try a whole new style!! We offer an annual dance show called Pure Dance where we come together with the other dance societies to put on a showcase, which we get to perform our 4 class levels. There is also an opportunity to be part of our Intermediate and Advanced competition squads who compete against other unis across the country. We also offer a range of workshop opportunities from industry professionals, these are a great opportunity to develop our skills further. We hope to see you at our classes throughout the year and can't wait to meet you!
CLASS TIMES
We have 4 classes per week taught by external teachers! Classes are in the Multi Purpose Studio in the SUSU building- come along to any of them and see if Street Dance is for you! Classes are held every Wednesday afternoon:
Beginners - 1.00 - 2.00 pm
Intermediate - 2.00-3.00 pm
Advanced - 3.00-4.00 pm
Afro - 4.00-5.00 pm
CLASS PRICES
Each class costs £3 with a membership.
A Year Membership is £16 or a Semester membership is £9! Head to the membership tab on our SUSU page for more information.
