Taekwondo
SUTKD is the university’s Taekwondo club, open to all levels from beginners to black belts in WT and ITF. The club trains in sparring, patterns, and self-defence, combining powerful punches and flashy kicks. Studio 3, First Floor, Jubilee Sports Centre Extension. Our University Taekwondo Club welcomes students of all levels to train in both ITF and WT styles. We focus on self-defence, sparring, and patterns while building confidence, discipline, and community. Whether you’re a complete beginner or an experienced competitor, you’ll find opportunities to learn, train, and compete as part of a supportive team.
Training times in Studio 3, First Floor, Jubilee Sports Centre Extension -
- Mondays - 5-8pm
- Wednesday - 6-8pm
- Thursday - 4-6pm (ITF focussed session)
- Sunday - 1-3pm
Competitions - We offer the opportunity to compete at LEAST 3 times a year at BUCS and BUTL competitions, and will subsidise these costs heavily so everyone, no matter their background, can afford to compete.
FREE TASTER SESSIONS: 28th September 16:00 - 18:00 and 29th September 13:00-15:00 in Studio 3 in Jubilee Sports Centre!!!
After this, you need to book into sessions via the UoS app and our Google Forms sign-up sheet (found on our Facebook/Instagram Group). If you want to try taekwondo, you are able to have 2 FREE TRIAL SESSIONS AT ANY POINT THROUGH THE YEAR before needing to buy a membership. Please contact a committee member to arrange this. After these, you must have a membership and a valid BT license in order to train (details about how to get these are on our Whatsapp/Instagram group). Membership Information
These are the current membership fees offered by Taekwondo, although many clubs and societies offer a free period for new members to try out their activities.

Perfect for those who have never tried Taekwondo before and would like to try it out before committing to the whole academic year. |
