Tap Dance
Welcome to the wonderful world of tap dancing! Tap dance society offers three classes every Wednesday, for beginner, intermediate and advanced levels. Our lovely qualified tap teacher combines technical steps with funky moves and jazz hands to create a perfect stress relief from uni work! Our aim is to give dancers a chance to learn something brand new, improve their technique and ability, but mostly to have fun and get involved in a friendly and sociable society. In second semester, all three classes have the opportunity to perform in the annual USD Pure Dance show for which each class prepares a routine! We also have an intermediate and advanced tap squad who represent us at inter-university competitions across the UK including, Southampton’s own event! Beginners: 5-6
Intermediate: 6-7
Advanced: 7-8
We also have many other opportunities alongside the weekly Wednesday classes:
In second semester, we participate in the annual USD Pure Dance show, this is an amazing experience giving you the chance to perform on stage in costume for all your friends and family to watch! Pure Dance involves all USD societies- showcasing routines learnt in class, our squad performances and solos/ duets/ trios.
Tap also have auditioned squads at intermediate and advanced level led by our amazing student captains. These squads rehearse for 2 hours each weekend and compete at inter-university competitions, including Southampton's own dance competition and others such as Portsmouth, Manchester and Loughborough!
